A police officer has died while 3 others are injured after they were accidentally hit by a fellow officer.
The incident happened during training at the Limbe Police Training School in Blantyre.
According to reports, police say they are investigating the circumstances but shared the following details via Zodiak:
βͺοΈThe officers were travelling from Zomba to Neno and had stopped at the training school to pick up colleagues.
βͺοΈAs the trainer checked whether his firearm was safe, it accidentally discharged, striking officers who were standing nearby.
βͺοΈSergeant Chiyembekezo Misinde died in the incident, while two other officers and the trainer sustained injuries.
βͺοΈPolice say investigations are also focusing on why the firearm was pointed towards people instead of in a safe direction.
